If you’ve been referred for cardiac testing or are wondering what’s involved, this guide will walk you through what bulk billing means, what tests we offer, and how to access them.

What Does Bulk-Billing Mean for Cardiac Testing?

Bulk-billing means you won’t have to pay out-of-pocket costs for eligible cardiac tests covered by Medicare. At Access Cardiology, this ensures that cost is never a barrier to receiving timely, accurate heart care.

To access bulk-billed testing:

  • You must have a valid referral from your GP or specialist
  • You must be eligible for Medicare

Our friendly admin team can help you confirm your eligibility and make the process simple and stress-free.

🫀 What Cardiac Tests Are Bulk-Billed at Access Cardiology?

We provide a wide range of bulk-billed, Medicare-eligible tests across our clinics, including:

  1. Electrocardiogram (ECG)

A simple, fast, and painless test to monitor your heart. An electrical impulse triggers each heartbeat, normally generated from special cells in the upper right chamber of your heart. An ECG records these electrical signals as they travel through your heart.

  1. Holter Monitor

A Holter Monitor is a device which records the electrical activity (ECG) of your heart, usually over a 24-hour period. The device itself is a small machine that can be worn on your waist band and is connected to electrodes placed on your chest.

  1. Echocardiogram

An Echocardiogram or Echo is an ultrasound assessment of the heart that can evaluate the structures of the heart using a series of images and videos. At Access, we perform a transthoracic echocardiogram. This test involves taking images outside the body and requires no preparation.

  1. Stress Echocardiogram

Measures the performance and capacity of the heart and blood vessels in response to increasing workload (exercise).

  1. Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

An Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor is a device automatically measures your blood pressure at regular intervals during the day and night for a 24-hour period. It involves using a small blood pressure machine that attaches to a belt around your body and connects via a tube to a cuff wrapped around your upper arm.

Access Cardiology offers partially rebated Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors with only a small out of pocket fee.
